Using Empathy to Drive Organizational Values

Speaker: Andrea Goulet

Organizations that implement a compassionate and people-focused culture often realize tangible benefits that contribute to the bottom line. When leaders exhibit strong empathy skills, their teams report being significantly more innovative, motivated, and engaged. Empathetic leadership is shown to decrease burnout, increase well-being, and improve retention. Empathy is crucial for collaborating on complex projects, achieving inclusion initiatives, and understanding how our work will impact others. Given all this, it’s no wonder organizations, such as The World Economic Forum, describe empathy, as a “must-have business strategy.” In this presentation, participants will learn specific practices for implementing empathy across an organization.

By looking at how empathy impacts organizational goals and outcomes, attendees will learn how to:

  • Integrate empathy into specific business operations

  • Monitor and measure the effectiveness of empathy driven initiatives

  • Develop communication infrastructure that reduces silos and improves collaboration

  • Incorporate empathy in ways that preserve boundaries and accountability

  • Weigh the impact of business decisions on multiple stakeholders and society at large
